How Each Grade Is Harvested

Matcha quality depends on harvesting the youngest, topmost leaves from the first flush and shading them before harvest to increase chlorophyll and amino acids, with later, lower leaves yielding more everyday grades. Basically the newer and most protective leaves are what makes the quality better.

Grade AAAA+  | Imperial Reserve

This is most exquisite harvest, reserved for when you want a proper moment of calm. Leaves carefully picked one by one, this is a super-high-grade matcha with a brilliant emerald glow and a mellow, creamy finish. Because we only use the youngest, shade-grown leaves, there’s not a hint of bitterness here—just pure, silky umami. Best enjoyed the traditional way, whisked with hot water, so you can appreciate the craftsmanship in every sip. Our matcha is all stone-ground to an ultra-fine 800-1000 mesh. This is important and something other Matcha producers don't focus on, but this is ultimately what gives it the smoothness people look for in Matcha. The result is a vibrant jade powder with a smooth, rich umami finish.

Grade AAA+  | Premium Reserve

A truly high-grade ceremonial matcha that hits the sweet spot between luxury and daily ritual. It’s smooth with a fresh, vibrant taste that holds its own whether you’re drinking it straight or whisking it into a velvety latte. If you’re looking for that "Green Gold" standard without the fuss, this is your go-to. Smooth, bright, and brilliantly balanced.

Grade AA+ | Prime Reserve

Out Grade AA is another high-quality matcha designed for those who love a bit of "oomph" in their cup. While still ceremonial grade, Prime Reserve has a slightly bolder, more robust character that shines through when paired with milk. It’s the perfect choice for a morning latte or a midday smoothie boost. It’s got all the health benefits you’d expect, with a punchy flavour that won't get lost in the mix. For general baking, we'd still recommend to choose our lower grade, unless you feel very fancy and choose to bake more high-end.

Grade A+ | Classic Reserve

Best for: Baking, mixing, and everyday lattes. Our most accessible ceremonial grade, perfect for the experimental whisk. Still falls under a high quality like our other grades, and is a similar to the grade to what you would expect from a decent cafe. This one has got a deeper, more traditional "grassy" note that makes it a star ingredient in the kitchen and for lattes.. Whether you’re whipping up a matcha-infused cake, a bright green ice cream, or just a simple everyday latte, Classic Reserve provides that authentic matcha depth. Honest, reliable, and top-quality tea for your daily dose. If you are a pure tea drinker, you would be better off with the higher grades.
